🚗💨 This Week in Our Classroom: Transportation! 💨🚗
This week’s theme was transportation, and the children had so much fun exploring cars, trucks, and other vehicles through hands-on play and movement!
🗣 Language Development
We explored a toy vehicle sensory bin, where children learned simple words like car, bus, and go 🚙. We practiced early writing with colored pencils and clipboards, made fun vehicle sounds like beep, vroom, and choo-choo, and scribbled on boogie boards.
🧠 Cognitive Development
In cognitive activities, the children sorted big vs. small vehicles, rolled cars down ramps to observe movement, completed vehicle puzzles, and explored textured roads, developing problem-solving and early math skills.
🏃 Motor Development
We stayed active by walking and pushing cars along taped roads, placing stickers along road lines, and playing a fun Stop & Go game 🚦. The children also scrubbed cars in a pretend car wash and practiced coordination through movement and play.
😊 Social & Emotional Development
We practiced turn-taking using a “My Turn” car basket and explored feelings using emotion cars 😊🚗.
🎨 Art
Our creative artists had a busy week! We made car track paintings by rolling cars through paint, decorated car cutouts with bingo daubers, created tape-resist road paintings, and built cars using shapes.
🧱 Blocks & Sensory
We added more vehicles to our block area for imaginative play. In sensory, the children explored vehicles with colorful rice—scooping, pouring, and driving through different textures.
📚 Books We Read This Week
We enjoyed Let’s Find Things that Go, Trucks, Here We Go!, and Little Blue Truck during large group time.
✨ Looking Ahead to Tomorrow:
- Language: Match toy vehicles to real-life pictures 🚗
- Cognitive: Continue sorting and exploring vehicles
- Motor: Crawl through a tunnel while pushing cars
- Social Studies: Talk about family transportation
- Art: Create textured foil car prints
It’s been a week full of movement, creativity, and fun—your little learners were always on the go! 🚦💛
