Transportation week brought lots of fun activities this week. In art this week the children painted with cars, painted a traffic light, explored painting, created a car with scraps of paper and glue and tomorrow they will paint again and form a paper airplane. In math the children explored pattern blocks with various transportation designs to create. The children also looked at different vehicles and talked about how some looked the same and others were different, and how. They also explored rolling cars down different textured ramps to see the difference in how they moved, this incorporated science! In language the children dictated how they get to school, they engaged in a things that go bingo game and we talked about the different vehicles. The children practiced letter formations driving cars on the letters and they will practice writing words of different types of transportation. In the sensory table the children explored boats in water, loving that we continue to color the water. The drama area has been busy with baby dolls, and we added a highchair, a baby bed and the couch to give it a more home like feel. On the other side of drama we have a little flower shop and the children have been making small bouquets in the small flowerpots. The block area we also have seen so many creative homes for the animals and we enjoy seeing the children use all the available materials of sticks, leaves, rocks and incorporating the unit blocks with them. The art shelf has been made more available for the children as we have added playdough with playdough toys, and more collage items with glue. We want them to explore more creativity with various material options.
