It has been a whole week about those mom’s and grandma’s that love us so much and take such good care of us, so we have talked a lot about the concept of “love”.  When they start to hug the baby dolls, we will say to them, “love the baby” which has helped reinforce the concept of kindness and affection.  Also, gentle hands have come into the classroom as of lately, with so many of them the exact same age, frustration can rear its head, and so we need to help them understand that gentle and nice are the best ways to help curb those feelings.  Our older children have been able to play outside much of this week, and they have also created some art while inside.  They have colored, used dabbers, and painted.  The nesting cups were out and it has been fun watching them figure out how to fit them inside of each other and build with them as well.  Bubbles have been a huge hit this week with many of our children practicing saying the word bubble and then signing and asking for more.  The containers and lids were out to explore as well as many books and songs about mommies.  They have crawled through the tunnel and practiced letting go and then retrieving toys in containers.  Our older children have been hard at work helping clean up toys to music as well as throwing paper towels away after hand washing.  The youngest babies have enjoyed peek-a-boo, explored soft covered toys, and watched faces as the teachers talk to them.  It has been a week about love, kindness, and gentleness but also a week filled with surprises and laughter.  Bring on what’s new next week!
