This week was Camping Week, and the children had a wonderful time exploring all things related to the outdoors. We began by talking about their own camping experiences and discussing different places people can camp, such as tents, campers, and log cabins. The class listened to various animal sounds, enjoyed We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, and even pretended to go on a camping trip together.

We also created a camping word list, talked about rules for camping, and brainstormed what we would pack for a camping adventure. The children completed letter‑matching activities using tents, copied the letters they saw, and practiced writing the camping vocabulary words we came up with as a group. Throughout the week, we encouraged the children to use these new vocabulary words during play and discussions to help build their language and communication skills.

In math, the children sorted rocks, played a camping memory game, and used manipulatives to build numbers or count how many sticks they could stack before they fell. They also played a round of Camping Bingo and reviewed numbers throughout the week.

For art, the children created “Bugs in a Jar” using fingerprint painting, made handprint campfires, and designed nature collages inspired by the outdoors. It was a fun, imaginative, and hands‑on week of learning. We had a fantastic week, and we’re looking forward to more fun and learning with the children as we move into our next theme.
