Fire, hot dogs, s’mores! This week was all about camping. We started this week by discussing what to bring when we go camping. We came to the conclusion that we need a tent, sleeping bag, food, wood for fire and of course clothes! At nap time, we even camped out by having our friends bring their sleeping bags! I mean if we can’t go out to camp, we might as well bring the camp indoors. Our friends have been spending some time in the drama area as well because of all the camping supplies we have there such as binoculars, food, fire (plastic of course), and a tent! This week the children worked on letter recognition and writing. At math this week, the children worked on patterns and number recognition. At the art table, the children made a fire using foil, a tent with some craft sticks and fire flies using their fingerprints. At the science table this week, the children had small craft sticks and the goal was to use them to build their own tent. We spent a lot of time outside this week. Out on the patio, we are working on our garden! We will be planting some veggies soon :). We also discussed some safety while camping. For example, we must make sure that the adults that we are around build the fire because we can’t burn ourselves. We also talked about how if we see a bear, to quietly go the other way…it might be just as scared of us as we are of it. We hope the children enjoyed learning about camping and hope that they get to go camping even if its in your backyard. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
