It is a fun theme for the preschoolers this week. In art the children painted with sponges, they painted with brushes, they explored cutting and gluing and tomorrow they will choose what art they want to do. In math the children engaged in a superhero bingo game, graphed superheroes, matched shapes to a cape, and tomorrow they will look at superheroes and talk about the similarities and differences. In language the children practiced writing lower case letters on dry erase boards, they matched letters to capes and did some upper case letter writing. Tomorrow the children will hunt for letters around the room. In the sensory table the children explored marbles in water and we added the spiral ramp for the marbles to roll down. In science the children have been working with tactile shells and in the block area we added solo cups. The blocks area additions for the month are also family cars with small pegs to represent the people. We added more animals and people and we brought in Lincoln Logs to enhance the area and more opportunities for creativity. The drama area is now one big baby center! We have added baby cots, more clothes, more babies, and more blankets. We even added food and dishes for those that want to make meals for not just the babies! Our star of the week was Edie and it was so fun to listen to her favorite story, see her favorite toy and enjoy her yummy favorite snack. With our star of the week, Traveling teddy brings more language into the classroom. After our friends share all that they did with Teddy, we put the book in the language area for our preschoolers to look at and see the pictures and stories written of the adventures he has taken already. Our interest window is all about dad this month and the children love to share these!
