We are celebrating Father’s Day this week and the children have been sharing fund things their dads do, things they play, and things they cook! In art this week the children have been busy making something special for dad, a little painting and some gluing, wonder what it could be??!! In language this week the children explored telling stories using pictures. The children would choose a picture of a who, a what and a where o help start and share a story. Good practice for language and speaking. The children also worked on writing letters chosen from a basket, shared a dictation of all things dad and explored a who, what, when, where and why question activity. Tomorrow the children will dictate why dad is special. In math this week the children matched numbers on a number line, explored a concentration game of suit ties, sorted baseballs by size and tomorrow they will count how many blue items in the room, then red, then green and so on. In the sensory table the children explored water with bottles, bowls and bear counters. In science we added some magnet wands and mirrors. In the block area we added city building blocks and road signs, and the children continue to be interested to work with the solo cups. Our home school connection window is growing as we have so many pictures of dads with the preschoolers and every time they walk past the window they like to look at the pictures and get excited to point out their dads!
