It is a summer theme this week and what a wonderful theme to correlate to being outside with the babies daily.  The weather has been amazing so giving them the chance to feel the breezes and the sun while exploring outside has been a lot of fun for everyone!  Inside they have worked on fine motor skills by pulling yarn through the top of coffee can lids, putting pom poms into muffin tin cups and dropping popsicle sticks into juice bottles.  The younger babies have been practicing their reaching skills while sitting and on their bellies, when we place sensory balls in front of them to explore.  Art activities have included scribbling on paper with crayons and fingerpainting.  There have been many songs about this season and books about weather for them to listen and move to, which is always exciting.  Peek-a-boo initiated by the children and the teachers has been a crowd favorite this week as has building block towers and watching them fall down – the laughter that follows is always the best.  They have watched bubbles, played This Little Piggy with teachers, and did movements to songs like Row, Row, Row Your boat.  We gave the youngest babies the chance to experience different types of textures, fuzzy, warm, bumpy, and some of the facial expressions that followed were priceless and so cute.  We have had an exciting week inside and out and as next week approaches with some really warm temperatures, we look forward to mud day and lots of water play outside.  We will celebrate America next week so onto our next adventure!
