We are celebrating our country this week with the colors centering around red, white and blue. The children have had several opportunities to play outside before it was to warm and mud day was also this week, but most of our children were not a fan of that, so inside play became the next best thing. They enjoyed stacking ice cream toys onto cones, seeing how high they could make them before they fell over. Puzzles and large vinyl blocks were out to explore and the blocks brought many giggles as they tried using them as chairs or as something to hold other toys on top of, even for a brief second. They explored balls out of masking tape and stuck items to contact paper. The youngest babies watched and listened to wind chimes that were near them and watched stories, with the older children, that were on our felt hand puppet. Shakers and ribbons were out to move to music and the older children were working on pointing out friends whose names they heard in a song. They practiced their high-fives and their hellos with every one that comes into the room and always with big smiles on their faces. There was art with crayons and paint as well as some chalk. As always, we are rolling, pulling up, sitting, and walking, all with accomplished smiles and laughs. It has been a great week to celebrate the country while relaxing and learning inside with the air conditioning keeping us cool!
