It’s all about the red, white and blue this week! In art this week the children painted with forks, they explored splatter painting, cut and glued a red, white and blue collage and today they painted with star cookie cutters. In language the children listened to letter sounds and used picture cues to try to identify the corresponding letter. The children wrote letters in trays of sprinkles, they dictated how hey will celebrate the Fourth of July and they matched lettered stars. In math the children sorted stars by color and size, they matched flag shapes and played a path game to get the flag to the top of the pole. Today the children used a die to tell how many stars and stripes to add to their paper. In drama the children continue to prepare concession stand food of hot dogs, burgers and fries and in the block area they are enjoying working with city blocks and cars. We had a special parent reader this week and Ada was our star of the week! The children have also loved having the traveling teddy book displayed in the language area; they take the book and look at the pictures and talk about them.
