It has been such a fun week where the babies have had so many opportunities to play with balls – small, big, textured, smooth, it is their dream come true.  They have had them inside and outside and have practiced rolling, tossing, and kicking.  Sports week has brought so much excitement and fun!  We had a small bucket out for them to toss balls into and then they discovered how to pick it up and dump it back out – that was exhilarating!  Lots of laughter to accompany this fun task!  Busy boxes, stacking rings, shakers, and large Lego blocks have been out for them to explore and work on new skills.  Our art activities have included coloring, gluing and chalking.  The youngest babies have been reaching for balls above and next to them, while dancing with the teachers to fun songs like “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”.  Different books,  puppets, and stories on the flannel board have been used to tell some fun stories and to sing some silly songs.  Bubbles have been blown while we talk about how round they are and when they fall, they pop!  Giggles abound for that moment.  The parachute was fun for all the babies as some helped lift it up and down and some were able to lie underneath it and watch it billow above them.  It has been perfect weather  for outside play and we end the week playing in the pools! Next week we will explore different types of music – what will be everyone’s favorite?  Stay tuned for that answer.
