It’s all about the music this week and the babies are hearing a variety of what is out there – they have heard everything from 80’s hits to all of their favorite children’s songs.  They have listened to classical, country, and jazz.  It has been fun listening to the many genres that are out there and watching their reactions to what they are hearing.  Art this week has had them painting a disco ball, “drumming” popsicle sticks through paint, to making a handprint mural.  The children have danced “fast” and “slow” which is always so funny to them.  They have pulled items out of our mystery box, explored bubble wrap with their hands and feet, looked through black and white books, and tried completing simple puzzles.  The parachute and tunnel have both been out for some fun group activities and ribbons and scarves have been utilized as a fun peek-a-boo game as well as dancing around the room while holding them.  They are practicing their sign language, banged on the bottom of coffee cans to imitate a drum, and shaken different types of shakers (egg shaped and ones with handles).  Pegboards and puppets have been out to explore, and outside time is regularly being taken advantage of with the nicer weather we have had lately.  Recognizing friends and body parts have both been practiced with our older children while the younger babies are working toward sitting, rolling, and eating.  It has been such a fun musical week and next week promises to more so as we talk about what a friend is to them!
