Lakewood Child Care Center

This week was all about sports and we had a BALL playing and learning all week! We did some baseball on Monday, soccer on Tuesday, basketball on Wednesday, bowling on Thursday and golf, hockey and so much more for Friday! For cutting practice, we cut circles to paint a baseball, soccer ball and basketball. Thursday, we decorated our own jerseys and Friday will be making something silly! For math, we have been sorting, patterning and counting small, foam sports balls. We also put (paper) bowling pins in order and counted how many baskets we could make when we threw crumbled-up orange paper in the basketball hoop. For language, we practiced some writing with dry erase boards and all the sports we could think of! We also shot small soccer balls in a “net” as we identified each letter written on them. The sensory bin has been busy with tennis balls, beans and spoons. The boys and girls “fed” the cut-open tennis balls the beans as they worked their small muscles, squeezing the ball to open the mouth. The block area had bowling in it to help us warm up for the field trip! Our swim day was more water play as it was a bit chilly to swim, but we had fun painting the walls and ground with water, playing pool noodle hockey and so much more fun! The field trips this week were soccer on Tuesday and Bain park and bowling on Thursday. We kept super busy this week all while we did some research on sports we didn’t know much about. We also played sports trivia! To end the week, our “big friends” from Help To Others will be coming to read to us, followed by hands-on activities and fun! Go Guardians!
