Welcome to PreK2! We had a wonderful first week getting to know our classroom, our center, and each other. The children spent time learning our classroom rules and practicing what it means to be safe, kind, and respectful.
We learned that we use our walking feet, quiet voices, and keep our hands to ourselves. We are already working hard to practice these expectations throughout our day!
We also spent time getting to know our friends and learning everyone’s names. The children counted how many letters are in their names and practiced recognizing letters and numbers through a fun letter and number matching game. We sorted letters and numbers while practicing saying whether each one was a letter or a number.
The children are also learning important social skills as they make new friends. They are practicing how to share, take turns, use kind words, and play together. It has been wonderful to see their friendships beginning to grow!
We also worked on our daily routines and transitions between activities. The children are doing a great job learning how to move from one activity to the next and follow our classroom routines.
The children enjoyed coloring the crayons that had their names on them and drawing pictures of themselves coming to school. These activities helped us learn more about ourselves while building our early literacy, math, and fine-motor skills.
This week, we also started classroom jobs. The children are excited to have special responsibilities and are learning that helping with classroom jobs is an important part of our daily routine.
We are so proud of how well everyone is adjusting to PreK2! We are looking forward to a wonderful year filled with learning, growing, friendship, and lots of fun! đź’›
