Lakewood Child Care Center

It has been a fun week celebrating different colors and shapes.  The babies have shown up in their colors which has been so neat to see the various colors saturate our room while we talk to them about what they are seeing.  We have made shapes out of masking tape on our floor for them to toss bean bags into and as they landed we were able to label each shape for them, but tossing the bean bags was definitely more interesting!  They made a collage of different colors by sticking tissue paper to contact paper, and then helped cleaned it up, which is great practice for the next room that they transition to.  They played with our lacing toys, our shape sorters, and our nesting cups.  The older children also crawled through a tunnel, stuck stickers to paper, shook shaped shakers and waved scarves to different tempos of music. The youngest babies had sensory experiences that included feeling water, feeling a ball of sticky tape, and hearing different types of bell sounds.  They were also able to reach for balls that were in a basket turned on its side – while on their backs or tummies.  This week has been all about the colors and the shapes that surround them every day all while having some different activities that accentuate them.  Thanks for helping them participate in our color week theme!
