We introduced the theme with a banner with places all around the world. The children are learning the names and buildings of the following; Statue of Liberty, Big Ben, Taj Mahal, Leaning Tower, St. Basils Moscow, Branden Gate Berlin and Blue Mosque.
The other places around the world we are learning about are, America, China, Puerto Rico, Africa and Mexico. Activities are related to the places we learned all week.
Math
The children practiced matching different country flags by naming and pairing by colors and design, counting Giraffe spots using colored chips one-by-one, interactive colored school bus with small colored blocks to match same colors, Chinese New Year pattern animal matching board to practice naming new animals and follow pattern board.
Motor Development
Green/blue play-dough with earth dry erase boards to press the blue play-dough for water and green play-dough for mountains, hills, and grass, the children practiced basket weaving related to weaving baskets like the people do in Africa, tracing/scribbling and shape making in baking soda on trays with chop sticks to practice grip and drawing.Chop sticks, pom-poms and Chinese food containers to practice transferring from dish to container building eye-hand coordination .
