BOO! Did we scare you? This week was all about Halloween. We began the week by getting a little history of why Halloween is Halloween. It all started way back when celebrating the harvest on all Hallow’s Eve….individuals would dress up to celebrate…thus came Halloween. From there we did many different Halloween movement activities where we dance like ghost, goblins and skeletons. The children worked on different math activities such as sorting, counting and tic tac toe. At the language table, the children worked on letter recognition and writing skills. At the art table this week, the children made ghosts using paint and a straw, rip art pumpkin, and Q-tip candy corn. We also carved our pumpkin!! The children asked for a Haunted House and I did my best to give it to them. It was fun watching them clean the pumpkin out….some of the faces are the best…you can see those on Google Drive! We also learned the letter Hh just in time for Halloween! We read the Hh book and wrote some Hh words on the chalkboard.
Our fun didn’t end…we went on our first field trip this year to Playhouse Square to see Clifford! The children were full of excitement especially being able to ride on the bus. Just a reminder, if you can have your child practice buckling and unbuckling themselves in their seat in your car, it will be easier and faster when we are getting on the bus.
We will end this fabulous week of Halloween with our Halloween celebration! We can’t wait to see all the fun costumes that the children will wear. We will be trick o treating on the third floor as well as in the great room. We will have so many fun Halloween activities and will end it with our fun snack! We hope that the children enjoyed this week and get lots of candy on Saturday! Remember….Miss Tara likes Reese cups and Miss Chasity likes sour patch kids. 🙂 Have a spooky Halloween!!
