It has been a fun week in the infant room where we have explored and learned all about different community helpers that they may encounter every day.  There have been puppets and books to demonstrate what each helper does and why their job is so important.  They even had the opportunity to try on fire hats!  They walked or crawled on music mats to hear the sounds that came from it and then did the same thing with bubble wrap taped to the floor.  They tried their hand at finger painting with red, yellow, and orange paint and stuck black dots on our Dalmatian dog, made from contact paper.  They enjoyed listening to songs about fire trucks that a lot of fun movements that accompanied them.  They watched the electric aquarium and were fascinated by all the fish they saw “swimming” by, they all wanted to reach out and touch them.  Some are working on walking and some are trying out sitting on their own, so much fun!  We are also helping some of them learn how to wave and clap, and they are so proud of themselves when they do it all by themselves.  Lots of books, songs, fingerplays, and imagination!  Next week it will be all about nursery rhymes.
