Hickory Dickory, Humpty Dumpty and Baa Baa Black sheep…what do they all have in common? They are all Nursery Rhymes! This week was all about the Nursery Rhymes and exploring what that is. We learned at group this week that Nursery Rhymes are short stories that have rhymes in them. So of course, as we read a few, we worked on what a rhyming word was. We learned that a rhyming word sounds the same as another word but has a different beginning sound. We worked on different language activities such as letter recognition and writing practice. At the math table we worked on number recognition and patterns. The children were creative at the art table making a sheep using paint and a loofah, drawing what the old lady swallowed in the book, creating a rip art Humpty Dumpty and making the clock from Hickory Dickory Dock. We will end this fun week with Itsy Bitsy Spider. We also worked on the letter Ee this week. At the science table, the children worked on their fine motor skills by using the eye droppers to place water in circles. This worked both fine motor and math because they had to count how many dots of water it took to fill the dot. We will end this fun week with Miss Mel and music class! We hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend!
