Lakewood Child Care Center

It’s camping week and the children have been experiencing it in many different ways.  They have crawled through tunnels while listening to Going on a Bear Hunt and they have listened to books about sleeping outside in tents.  All of the children have played outside this week, the younger ones sitting on a blanket and enjoying the fresh air.  We have colored with chalk on boards and made marshmallow stamps on paper.  They have participated in songs like The Ants Go Marching, watched stories on the flannel board, and rolled balls back and forth between friends.  They had a chance to see what play dough was all about, a hit for some but not for all, and dropped shaped blocks into a shape sorter.  They are working on identifying their friends while listening to Look Who Came To School Today, finding facial body parts when asked to point to them (the head is a fan favorite), and imitating animal sounds while looking at their pictures in a book.  The younger babies watched a bear puppet tell them stories, shook and rolled sensory shakers, and looked for toys that were hidden under a cloth.  They watched bubbles and tried their hands at pulling a scarf out of a ball.  Bean bags were out to try dropping in large baskets all while practicing standing on flat feet while being held upright by a teacher.  They have been so busy this week but there has been a lot of laughter and fun at the same time and we can’t week to see what next week brings!
