This week’s theme was dinosaurs 🦕 and the children had so much fun exploring these prehistoric creatures through hands-on activities across all learning areas!

🗣 Language Development
We colored large letter D papers, practiced making different dinosaur sounds, explored magnet letters, and matched letters to dinosaur names.

🧠 Cognitive Development
Our dinosaur learning continued as we attached colored clothespins to dinosaur plates to make spikes, created salt dough fossils, balanced dinosaur figures, and cracked open frozen dinosaur eggs.

🏃 Motor Development
This week, we went on a dinosaur egg hunt, made a dinosaur bones sticky wall with cotton swabs, stomped around the classroom wearing “dinosaur feet,” and worked on dinosaur puzzles.

😊 Social & Emotional Development
We sang and acted out dinosaur songs together and practiced sign language to support communication.

🍎 Health & Safety
We matched fruits to their colors earlier in the week and sorted fruits and vegetables on Wednesday.

🎨 Art
Our dinosaur art projects were a big hit! We made dinosaur footprints, painted dinosaur shadow art, and made paper plate dinosaurs.

🧱 Blocks & Sensory
We added more dinosaurs to our block area for imaginative play, and our sensory table was filled with shredded paper, rocks, leaves, and dinosaurs for digging and exploring.

📚 Books We Read This Week
We enjoyed H is for Happy-Saurus, I Love My Dinosaur, Dinosaur Roar!, Dinosaurs, and Bingo Dinosaurs during large group time.

Looking Ahead to Tomorrow:
 To finish our week, we’ll:

  • Language: Feed the dinosaur by giving it different letters and objects to “eat”
  • Cognitive: Play Dinosaur Bingo and match dinosaur pictures on our cards
  • Motor: Dinosaur dance party, moving and dancing like dinosaurs and Coach Charlotte!
  • Social Studies: talk about wants and needs, learning how to use both words and signs to express ourselves
  • Art: Painting the fossils we created
  • Health & Safety: Create our own pretend paper plate salads, choosing different “ingredients” and practicing healthy eating concepts

It’s been a roaring, stomping, exciting week in our classroom! 🦖💛
