We had such a wonderful week preparing for Mother’s Day! The children loved learning about how Mother’s Day is celebrated around the world and were especially fascinated to discover that some countries celebrate on different days. Korea’s Parent’s Day sparked a great conversation — the children wondered why we don’t celebrate both parents together, which led to a sweet discussion about how we honor each parent on their own special day.
Throughout the week, the children worked hard on the gifts they created for their moms, and they are so excited for you to open them. They spent time practicing their writing by brainstorming and writing special words to describe their moms. It was heartwarming to see how thoughtful and proud they were of their work.
We also added fun literacy activities to our week. The class played an energetic round of ABC Bingo, which helped reinforce letter recognition while keeping everyone engaged and cheering for one another. Another highlight was the Mother’s Day poem the children practiced. They enjoyed reciting it and adding their own illustrations to make it extra meaningful.
In math, the children practiced simple subtraction using hands‑on materials to help them visualize taking away. They also worked on writing numbers and strengthening their number recognition skills through games and small‑group activities. One of their favorite moments was playing Number Bingo, where they excitedly searched for numbers on their boards and celebrated each match.
The children are also working very hard on their circus acts for next Friday’s performance. They have been practicing their routines with so much enthusiasm, and they absolutely cannot wait for their families to see them shine on stage. Their excitement grows each day as they rehearse and cheer one another on.
