We are celebrating the circus coming to town (or at least our center) as the Pre-K room wraps up the week with their circus for the parents.  In our room, the babies played with lion, tiger, and bear puppets to represent the animals they might see.  Peg boards, nesting cups, sensory bottles, puzzles, and the discovery boxes all have given them a chance to explore and strengthen their fine motor skills.  Art activities have included manipulating paint in baggies, gluing cotton balls to paper, and bingo dabbers on paper.  The younger children also are learning to use crayons on paper and are making marks and scribbles.  They have listened to circus music and books about what they might see if they were to go see a circus.  They have danced with scarves and ribbons, watched bubbles, and played under a parachute.  Plastic fruits and vegetables have been out and as we put them on plates, we pretended to eat them as we described the food they had picked.  Tossing been bags into baskets was so much fun for them and many of them are working on cleaning up to music so this helped enhance that concept.  There has been outside play and indoor climbing, sliding and ball play, which all enjoy very much.  It has been a colorful, exciting week for them and next week promises to bring more of the same.
