What a fun week of activities and stories about the circus. In art this week the children showed off their creative side with some free style collages and drawings. The children also made some circus tents and painted with their hands. In math this week the children worked on counting and number recognition by counting animals and matching to the corresponding number. The children engaged in a circus bingo game, added popcorn to popcorn bags, matched cotton candy shapes and tomorrow will sort circus animals by size. In language the children practiced their letter writing as they copied writing circus words. They dictated what they would do if they were in the circus and matched letters to clowns. Tomorrow they will explore matching lettered circus balloons. In the sensory table the children worked with colored animal beads and cups and today we let the children tear and cut paper in the table. The drama area has been a fun area of construction workers on one side and taking care of babies on the other. The children also have enjoyed learning what their peers like to do with their moms and seeing the pictures in the window. We celebrated our first star of the week, Nell! She shared her weekend adventures with Traveling Teddy, and she shared a favorite book, a favorite toy and today will share her favorite snack. She has also been a teacher helper in the room and the children love this!
