What a week we have had exploring farm life!  One of our goals for our older children is learning animal sounds.  This week has been the best for them to hear those sounds and have a representation of the animals that make them through their book, toys and songs they have been surrounded with all week.  Of course, a cow and its moo is always the favorite – to say and to explore.  Other activities they have enjoyed this week have included, bingo dabbers on paper, pounding benches, shakers, and stacking rings.  They were able to explore different types and varieties of plush fruits and vegetables, where we were able to talk about color and size alongside their exploration.  A fun fine motor activity they always enjoy is attempting to pull large pom-poms out of a whisk, and while some are figuring it out, others are just as happy playing with the utensil, pom-poms and all.  They have enjoyed playing outside and using chalk on the walls. Puzzles have given them the chance to manipulate different sizes and shapes to fit them into precut spaces.  Stacking/nesting cups have been out for them to not only fit inside of each other but to figure out how to put them on top of one another to make tall towers!  Stamping and stickers were the highlights of our art activities while some are still working on making marks on paper with crayons.  The younger babies watched both a parachute and bubbles float above them – they were mesmerized.  All of this while our older children are learning to throw their own paper towels away, sit in a chair by themselves, and using a spoon right side up.  There also has been walking crawling, babbling, and standing.  Next week offers more ways to learn and grow and we are all excited at what is to come!
