The theme this week is all about those fun building blocks – Legos! As many of our older children have discovered the art of building blocks as high as they can make them stand upright, this week is definitely for them. We have given them the chance to build with every size, texture, and color of block that we can find and they are loving every minute of it. We have found that if they need to interlock, they aren’t quite as interested because they are a little more complicated that just one on top of the other but they have been trying and having fun with them all the same. As our teachers begin to work on their goals for the year, the children are having fun with different activities. Our older children were able to make S’mores for national S’mores day and had a lot of un piling on the ingredients. Then all the children learned about elephants and how much water their trunk could hold and listened to books all about these majestic animals. Peg boards, nesting cups, and stacking rings have been out to explore and practice fine motor skills while gross motor skills have centered around climbing, sitting, rolling, and standing. Puppets, the parachute, and bubbles have been used for all to enjoy and while our youngest have looked at pictures in our black and white books while the teachers explain to them what they are seeing. The goals that the teachers made are going to bring in some fun, new learning experiences along with our lesson plan themes so look forward to hearing about many new adventures coming up! Next week is Friends week, what a great time to experience what every day is like with the children in the room.
